The Jack Murat Coffee Farm Tour is a guided walk through a working Australian coffee farm, designed to give a clear and honest understanding of how fine coffee is grown, processed, and roasted in Far North Queensland.
The tour begins in the coffee fields, where we talk through the environment the coffee grows in, the plant itself, and the farming practices used across the plantation. We explain how climate, soil, seasonality, and day-to-day agronomy decisions influence both yield and flavour, and why Australian-grown coffee tastes the way it does.
From the fields, the tour moves into the processing area. Depending on the time of year, you may see live processing and fermentation taking place. Outside of harvest season, we explain how processing works, how different methods affect flavour, and why certain approaches suit Australian-grown coffee.
The farm also operates as a roastery, and roasting forms part of the experience. We walk through how roasting decisions are made and how they connect back to the coffee grown on the farm.
The tour concludes with a guided tasting, where you can taste a selection of coffees produced on site, served as espresso or filter. Freshly roasted coffee and merchandise are available to purchase directly from the farm.
No prior coffee knowledge is required, just a curiosity for how things are grown and made.
